STEPS
STEP 1 - CUP SIZE
- Before measuring, slip on your favourite bra, but choose one that does not have too much padding.
- Using a flexible measuring tape, measure your bust at the fullest point, ensuring that the tape is straight across your back.
- Note this number, in inches. Between two sizes? Round up the measure.
STEP 2 - BAND SIZE
- Place the measuring tape around your ribcage, directly under your bust, ensuring that the tape is straight.
- Note this number, in inches. Between two sizes? Round up the measure.
- You now know your band size.
STEP 3 - FINAL CALCULATION
- It’s easy! Subtract the first measure from the second.
- This will give you a number corresponding to your bra size.
- The difference equals the letter of the cup size as indicated in the chart.
- This letter, together with the number obtained in step 2, is your bra size!
IT FEELS GREAT
BAND
The right size torso band should not be too tight on the sides. It should be straight and should not ride up the back.
STRAPS
Properly adjusted straps should not dig into the shoulders. They should stay in place and be straight.
CUPS
The right size cups are just big enough to contain and support the entire bust.
IT FEELS TIGHT
BAND
The band is tight and digs into the skin on the sides. The band size is too small. You should be able to slip two fingers under the band when it is fastened at the middle hooks.STRAPS
The straps dig into your shoulders. Loosen the straps so they are more comfortable. If the problem persists, the size of your bra band may be too big.
CUPS
Your breasts spill out of the cups at the front and on the sides. Try a bigger cup size.
IT FEELS LOOSE
BAND
The band rides up the back. The size of the bra band is too big. It should fit straight across your back, and you should be able to slip maximum two fingers under the band when it is fastened at the middle hooks.
STRAPS
The straps slide off your shoulders. The elastic can stretch over time, so tighten the straps. If they still slip off your shoulders, your bra band size may be too big.
CUPS
The cups crease or are empty at some places. Try a smaller cup size.
Tips & tricks
1. The search for the perfect bra can require a lot of trial and error. Don’t get discouraged! The sizes vary according to the brand and the styles. You’ll be rewarded with the perfect level of comfort and support, which will make it well worth the effort.
2. Even if it seems the same, bust size changes over time. As such, it is recommended to take your measurements on a regular basis. Consult our guide or visit a la Vie en Rose store and talk to one of our bra specialists.
3. Over time, even the best bras lose their elasticity. It is recommended to replace your favourites every 6 to 12 months, depending on how often you wear them. Learn more.
4. Extend the life of your bras by alternating between your three favourites. When you wear one, wash the second, and air out the third.
Care tips
Your bras are the most delicate items in your wardrobe. It is worth treating them with care.
